Shah Rukh Khan just delivered his second blockbuster of the year with his mass masala saga ‘Jawan’. Director Atlee finds his way to the top again with his Bollywood debut and continues his hit streak. We already informed you that Jawan is looking at mammoth day 1 numbers at the box office.
Now, Red Chillies Entertainment has officially announced that Jawan has grossed Rs 129.6 crore on the opening day globally from all versions, making it the all-time biggest opener in Hindi cinema besting ‘Pathaan’. According to the trade analysts, the movie minted around 90 crores in India and nearly 40 crores from the overseas market. Jawan is the fourth highest grosser at the Indian box office on Day 1 behind Baahubali 2, RRR and KGF 2.
Jawan is the second highest grossing Indian film worldwide in 2023 just behind Prabhas’ ‘Adipurush’ while SRK’s previous film ‘Pathaan’ is in the third spot. In Tamil Nadu, Jawan opens its account with nearly Rs 7.95 crore on Day 1. It is now the sixth highest opener of 2023 in the state surpassing Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Maaveeran’.With the stupendous opening of Jawan, SRK reaches new heights in the box office records.
King Khan is officially the first Indian actor to give two 100cr+ global openings in a single year, that too consecutively without a sequel. He is now the second Bollywood actor since the 90s to give two record openers in a single year (only one to do that twice). Jawan produced by Red Chillies Entertainment stars SRK in dual roles, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Deepika Padukone and others with music by Anirudh.
