Kamal Haasan at the age of 68 is functioning on par or even better than thirty year olds in the film industry. After completing the shooting of the magnum opus ‘Indian 2’ directed by Shankar he stayed in the USA for prepping his next couple of movies. The legendary actor was in the UAE participating in the SIIMA awards ceremony where he recieved Best Actor Special Jury Award for ‘Vikram’.
Meanwhile amongst the lineup of major films coming up Kamal has now also planned to re-release his cult classic silent film ‘Pesum Padam’ aka ‘Pushpak’ in other “language” versions. The pathbreaking super hit film released in 1987 and it has been officially announced that it will be released for the current generation after 36 years.
‘Pesum Padam’ stars Kamal Haasan and Amala in the lead and is directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao with music by L Vaidyanathan. It is noteworthy that this pioneering black comedy with absolutely no dialogues was made on a budget of Rs.35 lakhs and collected up to one crore rupees even at a time when audiences were not receptive of such experiments.
Kamal Haasan’s movie ‘Vettaiyadu Vilayadu’ was already re-released and received a good response. Now apart from Kamal’s own movie ‘Pesum Padam’, Kalaipuli S Thanu is also on the process of re-releasing Kamal’s magnum opus ‘Aalavanthaan’ soon.
