NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 0.81 per cent), IDFC First Bank Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 0.65 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(up 0.62 per cent) and HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 0.28 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.3 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 0.45 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.28 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.18 per cent down at 43658.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 36.8 points at 19443.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 33.21 points at 64975.61.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, JP Power, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power and Easy Trip Planners were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of HB Stockholding, North Eastern, Alpa Labs, Dhunseri Petrochem and Concord Biotech Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Fourth Dimension Sol, Winsome Yarns, Compuage Infocom, Sheetal Cool and Atam Valves hit their fresh 52-week lows.
