Thalapathy Vijay’s latest movie ‘Leo’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has had a great run at the box office touching a staggering rupees six hundred crores. The film was loosely based on David Cronenberg’s Hollywood film ‘History of Violence’, released in 2005 and it was acknowledged in the opening credits as well.
Now the latest buzz in Kollywood is that Vijay’s current movie under production tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 68’ is also inspired by a Hollywood film. Reports suggest that the film is based on the critically acclaimed super hit SciFi actioner ‘Looper’ released in 2012. The film directed by Rian Johnson has Bruce Willis as a man from 2070 who is sent back in time to be assasinated by his younger self played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The screenplay is woven around Willis’s character escaping with his younger self hot in pursuit to stop a triple child murder with several twists and turns. We have to take this with a pinch of salt as there is no official word on this report.
Vijay who shot for ‘Thalapathy 68’ in Thailanad for the past few weeks as meanwhile returned home and will resume work in Chennai later this week. The film directed by Venkat Prabhu has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and is produced on a grand scale by AGS Produtions.
Thalapathy Vijay is playing two different characters with one showing him as a 25 year old using deaging technology. Mohan, Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ajmal, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh and Prabhu Deva costar along with the VP gang comprising Premgi Amaran, Vaibhav, Aravind Akash and Ajay Raj.
