A new biopic in making for the vintage actress Silk Smitha!

Silk Smitha was the most popular glamorous actress in India in the 1980s and the 1990s. Several movies have been made in the past based on her life including the Hindi film ‘The Dirty Picture’, the Kannada film ‘Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Hot and the Malayalam film ‘Climax’.

Silk Smitha’s reference was used in the recent movies ‘Dasara’ and ‘Mark Antony’. Now, the latest news is that a biopic for the veteran actress is being made under the title ‘Silk Smitha The Untold Story’ with actress Chandrika Ravi playing the titular role. The makers shared the film’s first look today marking Silk Smitha’s 63rd birth anniversary.

The poster features Chandrika Ravi as Silk Smitha. There is an uncanny resemblance between the poster and Silk Smitha’s actual photograph. This biopic is directed by debutant Jayaram. The movie will hit the cinemas in 2024 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The team has also thanked Silk Smitha’s brother Naga Vara Prasad in the poster.

It is worth mentioning that the Vidya Balan starrer ‘The Dirty Picture’ was released in 2011 and the makers claimed it was Silk Smitha’s biopic but her brother Naga Vara Prasad claimed the film was made without the family’s consent and their family is not happy with the film. It seems that ‘Silk Smitha The Untold Story’ is now made with the family’s consent.
