Cholera-hit patients under treatment at IGH in Rourkela

Even as cholera has allegedly been playing havoc in Rourkela, a woman affected by the water-borne disease died while undergoing treatment at the Rourkela Government Hospital. With this, the toll has gone up to 14, as per unofficial sources, while official data have put the toll at six.

The deceased was identified as Sabitri Giri, a resident of Madhusudanpali. She was admitted to the RGH on Sunday, but succumbed today, said her daughter Sandhya Giri.

Sandhya alleged that her mother was affected by cholera. “When her condition grew critical, she was admitted to the RGH where she died today. The problem was due to consumption of contaminated water,” she lamented.
