A couple of weeks ago, Assam CM

Himanta Biswa Sarma

had said the peace pact is likely to be signed this year-end or by January. He said the final touches are being given to the proposed pact, which will incorporate political, economic and cultural safeguards as well as land rights demands made by the group.
