The spoof went popular online and sparked a backlash. The fan expressed dismay and disgust of the comedians linking Haasan to Maya, especially since he did not consent.
Prema and Qureshi released apology tapes after the uproar. For fun and amusement, they believed this skit showed their appreciation for Haasan. They admitted that his fans were saddened and apologized.
