The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has declared January 17 (Wednesday) a holiday in view of the inauguration of the Srimandir Parikrama Project in Puri.
As per a BPUT notification, the University, its constituted/affiliated colleges and the Centre for UG & PG Studies (CUPGS) will remain closed on Wednesday.
The announcement came after the Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management department asked all the State government offices as well as the Revenue and Magisterial courts to remain closed on January 17 for the same.
Following the closure of colleges, the exams scheduled for Wednesday have also been rescheduled.
According to another BPUT notification, the 2nd and 3rd phase Odd Semester (Regular/Back) Offline Examinations-2023-24 has been rescheduled.
All the exams scheduled for January 17 have been rescheduled for January 21.
The ‘Purnahuti’ of the ongoing Maha Yajna preceding the inauguration of the Srimadir Parikrama project in Puri will end today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the project on the auspicious moment between 1.15 pm and 1.30 pm.
As per reports, Gajapati King Dibyasingha Deb will give ‘Purnahuti’ to the three-day Maha Yajna between 1.30 pm and 2 pm. After the end of the Yajna, ‘Nama Sankirtan’ will be organised for half an hour.
