The accident site in Patanagarh in Bolangir

Two persons were critically injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and the vehicle carrying the Patnanagarh sub-collector on the Patanagarh-Bolangir road at Sarmuhani on Tuesday evening.

The injured were identified as Sushant Bariha and Narayan Bariha of Luhakhen. However, sub-collector Bijayananda Sethi escaped unhurt, sources said.

As per reports, the vehicle of sub-collector Bijayananda Sethi was coming from the Bolangir side while the victims on the motorcycle were coming from the Patanagarh side. The van and the bike collided head-on near Sarmuhani. The two on the motorcycle were thrown off under the impact and suffered critical injuries. The bike was damaged. 

Local people rushed to the spot and rescued the two injured and hospitalised them. 

Sushant Bariha said that the sub-collector’s van hit their bike while they were on the right side. “We were injured and local people rescued us,” he said.

No response has been received from the sub-collector.
