Young promising talent Sarfaraz Khan has been grabbing all the attention (deservedly so) after he made his big Test debut for India and joined the Rohit Sharma Army in the third Test against England at Rajkot.
His long and excruciating wait came to an end in front of his father Naushad, who is said to be his biggest cricket inspiration. It was all because of Naushad’s sacrifices that helped Sarfaraz reach the position where he is today.
Despite tremendous performances in the Ranji Trophy and IPL, he had quite a long wait before he got his maiden international match call and represented India at the highest level. As Sarfaraz made his debut, industrialist Anand Mahindra decided to give him a ‘gift of Mahindra Thar’.
However, the Thar is not for Sarfaraz but for his father Naushad. Touched by his story, industrialist Anand Mahindra, known for gifting vehicles to cricket players, decided to give Naushad a gift.
“Himmat nahin chodna, bas!”
Hard work. Courage. Patience.
What better qualities than those for a father to inspire in a child?
For being an inspirational parent, it would be my privilege & honour if Naushad Khan would accept the gift of a Thar. pic.twitter.com/fnWkoJD6Dp

Taking to his X (Twitter) handle, Anand Mahindra wrote, “Himmat nahin chodna, bas!” Hard work. Courage. Patience. What better qualities than those for a father to inspire in a child? For being an inspirational parent, it would be my privilege & honour if Naushad Khan would accept the gift of a Thar.”
While people heaped praises on Anand Mahindra for his kind gesture, a section of people demanded that he should also gift a Mahindra Thar to Dhruv Jurel and his family, who also made his debut with Sarfaraz.
Meanwhile, both Dhruv and Sarfaraz played well for the team after making their debut. Sarfaraz became the batter to score the fastest fifty on his maiden outing. However, he was run out following a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja.
