If you are planning to update to the latest version of
Apple Watch
and planning to trade your existing one to get some additional discount. Then, simply resetting it isn’t sufficient. Apple has listed some must-do things for Apple Watch before
selling
it.
Turn off Activation Lock and remove your personal information from the Watch
- Keep your Apple Watch and iPhone together
- Open Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab
- Tap All Watches at the top of the screen and then tap on the information button
- Hit the Unpair Apple Watch button and then tap Unpair button again to confirm
- Also, tap Remove Mobile Data Plan, in case your watch has the
Cellular connection - Enter your Apple ID password to turn off the Activation Lock. If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, you can reset it.
- Tap again to confirm. When you unpair, your iPhone will try to create a backup of your Apple Watch. If you get a new Apple Watch, you can use the backup to set it up.
Disable mobile data from service provider
Once you’ve disabled your Apple Watch cellular connection, make sure to get it disabled from the Telecom service provider as well.
What to do in case you’ve already sold your Apple Watch
If you’ve already sold your Apple Watch, you can erase it and also turn off Activation Lock from iCloud.com.
- To do this, open Find My iPhone on iCloud.com and sign in using your Apple ID
- Select All Devices and then click your Apple Watch
- Click Erase Apple Watch. Select Next until the device has been erased.
