Anthony Mackie couldn’t help but hilariously revisit a statement Tom Holland made, in which he joked that Mackie did not get to have a standalone Falcon movie.
As Mackie prepares for “Captain America: Brave New World,” where he picks up the shield as the next star-spangled hero, he quipped that he might have Holland watch the premiere on tape. Slated for release on February 14, 2025, “Captain America: Brave New World” would mark Mackie’s reprisal as the new Captain America following the events of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series.
Directed by Julius Onah, it was a movie that promised a deep dive into Sam’s journey and his efforts to assemble a new team of Avengers.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made the announcement during the event, which included a zoom-in on the first footage from the film with Harrison Ford making his Marvel debut as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. When Sam gets the chance to put the team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes back together, a new villain emerges to provide the perfect jumping-off point for a fun, action-packed espionage thriller.
Mackie stressed that this will not be a continuation of a series he works on, but a one-piece movie, unrelated to plot or characters. The other star who will appear in the series is Danny Ramirez, who will play Joaquin Torres and be on Sam Mackie’s list for adding color to the storyline.
Taking cues from the Marvel movies of yesteryear, “Brave New World” launches a whole new realm of storytelling within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, complete with all-new sets of problems and villains.
As Mackie aptly describes, the title points at the promise of a very bold new frontier and certainly depicts where his character is going in the future for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One thing is sure: Tom Holland better be ready to get an earful from his co-star when he hits the premiere.
