Prince Charles is preparing to perform his first royal duty since his wife’s illness diagnosis was revealed last month. The 41-year-old royal has been with Catherine, the Princess of Wales, and their three children for three and a half weeks. This Thursday, he will visit a charity that redistributes food in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey. Besides that, he will go to a youth center in west London that benefits from the charity’s work.
Catherine told everyone in a video message last month that she has cancer and that she is starting chemotherapy after her tests after her January surgery on her abdomen. She hasn’t been seen in public since being told she had the disease. The palace had said she would be back to her royal tasks after Easter.
Catherine said she was thankful for all the support from the people and talked about the hard times her family was going through at the time. She also stressed how important it was to tell their children, who are 10 years old, 8 years old, and 5 years old, what was going on. She said that having her husband, Prince Charles, by her side during this terrible time gave her a lot of comfort.
In the meantime, Prince William has mostly avoided official tasks since his wife’s announcement, though he does make public appearances from time to time. The last public event he was in was at a football game with his oldest son, Prince George. This week, Prince Charles has events planned to bring attention to the organization’s work in the community and the environment. This is in line with his promise to protect the environment for future generations.
