An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces in the Nowpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District. Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed that an encounter had started at Check Mohalla Nowpora in the area of Police District Sopore. Security forces believe one or two terrorists are trapped at the encounter site.
”An encounter has started at Check Mohalla Nowpora in the area of PD Sopore. Police & security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow, ” said Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Security forces said that they had input about the presence of one or two terrorists in the area after which a cordon and search operation was launched. During the search operation, terrorists fired on security forces resulting in a gun battle.
Security forces have called in more reinforcements in the area as terrorists could take advantage of the darkness to escape from the operation site. All the exit points of the area have been completely sealed and lights have also been put up around the area.
