First single “Houdini,” off Eminem’s forthcoming album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),” will be released this Friday, less than a month after the album’s announcement.

The rapper told magician David Blaine over FaceTime to announce the news on Instagram. Eminem asks Blaine for assistance on a magic trick during the call. “How much farther can we take this magic, I wondered. Could we, like, pull off a stunt or something?” It’s Eminem, asking. In response, Blaine, who is drinking wine, bites off the glass’s edge. The call is ended by Eminem, who jokingly says, “Well for my last trick, I’m going to make my career disappear.”

Though he has indicated that it will be released this summer, details concerning Eminem’s twelfth studio album are few. The first single off the album will be called “Houdini,” and the Instagram video ends with a little instrumental snippet of it.

While Eminem has mostly kept “The Death of Slim Shady” under wraps, his longtime partner Dr. Dre revealed some hints earlier this year. Dre announced that Eminem was working on a new album during his March appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” He said he contributed to a few songs and intended to listen to the CD the day after his TV appearance.

Eminem teased the album in April with a clip from the NFL Draft-aired Detroit Murder Files criminal series. To figuratively bid Slim Shady, his lifelong alter ego, farewell, he also published a fictitious obituary in the Detroit Free Press earlier this month.
