Following the devastating death of Matthew Perry last year at the age of 54, law enforcement authorities are moving toward possible charges against multiple people connected to the circumstances of his overdose. After the Friends star’s autopsy report came up showing his death on October 28, 2023, was accidental, brought on by a ketamine overdose, the LAPD started an inquiry.
A recent People article claims that law enforcement sources point to a near-end of the inquiry. Pending determinations by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the identity of the people subject to possible charges has not been revealed.
At the time of his death, Perry—who battled addiction—had been receiving ketamine treatment for anxiety and depression. The autopsy, however, verified that his system’s ketamine came from outside recommended treatment. Working with the DEA and U.S. Postal Inspector investigators are aggressively tracking the ketamine used.
Sources close to the inquiry told TMZ that attempts have included interviews with Hollywood celebrities known for their past of drug usage, possibly linked to the supply network that led to Perry. Perry’s battles with addiction continued despite attempts at sobriety; these are emphasized in his memoir published in 2022.
Authorities are still looking for specifics about the sad death of the popular actor.
