Rohit Sharma after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph

The excitement and discussion around India’s T20 World Cup trumph have not yet waned. Now, several fans have slammed skipper Rohit Sharma alleging that the veteran batter disrespected India’s national flag after the World Cup triumph in Barbados.

In a moment of excitement, Rohit took the Indian flag and made it touch the ground. He is facing ire of several fans across various social media platforms for his action.

Many fans have highlighted a clause from the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971: “The flag shall not be allowed intentionally to touch the ground or the floor or trail in water”.

“flag code of India Part – III ,section – IV, 3.20: The flag shall not be allowed to touch the ground or the floor or trail in water, it comes under incorrect display Please @ImRo45 don’t disrespect the Indian flag!” wrote a fan on social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).

“If someone had done this in India, people would have screamed about disrespecting the home soil. This was over the top and unnecessary. Many Indians cried about Marsh and the cup though…,” tweeted another fan.
