The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) recently discussed implementing new rules for the industry, which include issuing a red card to Puratchi Thalapathy Vishal. Today, it has been revealed that actor Dhanush has also been issued a red card by the TFPC. Additionally, the council has established new regulations for OTT releases and has made significant decisions regarding an upcoming strike.
Vishal received a red card for allegedly misusing the council’s funds during his tenure as TFPC president, while Dhanush’s red card is due to his acceptance of advances for new films from multiple producers. The TFPC has ruled that any producers planning to work with Dhanush must consult with the council before commencing their projects.
Furthermore, the TFPC announced that films starring big stars can be released on OTT platforms only after an 8-week (56-day) theatrical run. The OTT release window for Tier 2 stars and small-budget films has also been revised. The Tamil film industry is preparing for a major strike. No new Tamil movies will begin production after August 15th, and all films currently in production must wrap up shooting by October 31st, as there will be a complete halt in shooting from November 1st onward.
