Dulquer Salmaan has teamed up with director Venky Atluri, known for “Vaathi”, for an upcoming period thriller drama titled “Lucky Baskhar”. Set against the backdrop of the 1980s, the film revolves around a mysterious banker and his hidden wealth. Initially slated for release on September 27th and later moved up to September 7th, the film’s release date has been postponed yet again.
The film’s producers announced today that “Lucky Baskhar” will now hit cinemas on October 31st, aligning with the Diwali festivities. This new release date sets the stage for a major box-office showdown with Sivakarthikeyan’s “Amaran” and Jayam Ravi’s “Brother”. Additionally, Ajith Kumar’s highly anticipated film “Vidaamuyarchi” is also expected to join the Diwali race.
“Lucky Baskhar” features Dulquer Salmaan and Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead roles, with music composed by GV Prakash. The film is a joint production by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinema, and Srikara Studios. The makers issued a statement explaining the delay:
“Dear fans & movie lovers, we appreciate and understand your anticipation towards Lucky Baskhar. Your favorite Dulquer Salmaan has delivered one of his finest performances as Baskhar, and our ace technical crew has meticulously recreated 1980s and 1990s Mumbai with extensive sets. To maintain the authenticity of the film in multiple languages, we are taking extra time to ensure the highest quality in dubbing. Being a multilingual film and a grand Pan-India release, we want to achieve the standard we aspire to. With a heavy heart, we have decided to postpone the film. Lucky Baskhar will now release on Diwali, October 31, 2024.”
