Power Couple Tension? Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Face Industry Backlash

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ surpassed $1 billion worldwide, while Blake Lively’s ‘It Ends With Us’ earned over $245 million worldwide. Ryan Reynolds also had a successful summer with his films. Their accomplishment has not, however, been without debate. Hollywood is humming with rumors of a conflict between Lively and her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, as well as Reynolds’ supposedly last-minute screenplay rewrites.

One of the most powerful couples in Hollywood, they have attracted praise as well as condemnation. An insider told ‘Life & Style’, “Their ambition is indisputable, but there’s debate in the industry about how far they’ll go to attain their aims. They obviously have no qualms about throwing their weight about to acquire what they desire.

The dispute centered on Reynolds allegedly changing a sequence in ‘It Ends With Us’, which Lively claimed to be improvisation. Screenwriter Christy Hall told ‘SheKnows’ she was not aware of these developments; ‘ET’ verified on August 27 Baldoni only learned of these alterations after Lively addressed it during a red carpet interview.

These disclosures have made some business insiders uncomfortable since they imply that the ambition of Reynolds and Lively might have a price. “People’s fear of opposing them just serves to heighten their influence. Though they look nice, everyone in their path runs the danger of being steamrolled, the ‘Life & Style’ insider noted.

To add to the drama, Baldoni owns the rights but the sequel, ‘It Starts With Us’, still has an unknown future. Reportedly, the conflict is still active. Allegations that Reynolds might have worked on the script during last summer’s writers’ strike are yet unaddressed by the Writers Guild of America. Notwithstanding the scandal, the couple has been largely quiet, which fuels more rumors.

Stunt work doesn’t have a category at The Oscars and I hope that’ll change someday. So many films have smashed it this year. Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Chaplin were stunt performers as well as filmmakers. Telling stories with their entire bodies.
