Mumbai: Two days after a

BMW

car crashed into a scaffolding outside a community Ganesh pandal a Mulund, killing one and injuring another, the blood sample of the driver of the BMW was sent for

analysis

to the forensic science laboratory on Monday. The driver,

(32), was produced in a court which sent him to police custody till Sept 10.
The car had ploughed into scaffolding of Mulundcha RajaMandal in Gavanpada, a part of which was jutting onto the road.

The driver had sped away in the car soon after the accident.
An officer from Navghar police station said on Monday that the driver’s blood sample has been sent to the state forensic science laborartory to ascertain whether or not he was drunk at the time of the crash.
Two volunteers at work for the community Ganeshotsav were thrown off the scaffolding. While Pritam Thorat (33) an autorickshaw driver, died, Prasad Patil (38), is in hospital. The BMW driver was nabbed from his friend’s home in Navi Mumbai, hours after the crash.
