Following the criticism, Flipkart removed the video from social media platforms.

Indian e-commerce company Flipkart, on Friday (Sep 27) issued an apology after getting slammed for referring to husbands as “aalsi and bewakoof” (lazy and idiot) in a recent advertisement. The company released their ad promoting, Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Days Sale’.

Following the criticism, Flipkart removed the video from social media platforms.

The advertisement featured a couple and offered tips on how women could order bags from the company without their husbands knowing about it.

The advertisement, however, faced criticism on social media after NCMIndia Council For Men Affairs took to X and called the ad “toxic” and “misandrist”.

“So @Flipkart deleted this misandrist post. But what was the logic behind even posting such a toxic video addressing a Husband as Aalsi, Kambakkht and Bewakoof Pati. They must apologise for this and hope they will not repeat it. Misandry will Not be Tolerated Anymore,” the council’s post read.

In response, the e-commerce company apologised by commenting on the post, saying that the video was shared “in error” and had been taken down.

“We’re sorry for the offending video which was posted in error, and took it down as soon as we realised our mistake. We will do better in the future,” Flipkart stated.
