Bagmati Train Accident: Mysore Darbhanga express collides with a stationary goods train in Kavarapettai, Tamil Nadu near Chennai on Friday and with several reported to have been injured, according to railway official. Moreover, police informed that a fire has erupted following the incident.
The Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express collided with a train in Kavarapettai, Tamil Nadu near Chennai on Friday, noted to a railway official. According to Tamil Nadu police, a fire erupted following the incident and several were injured.though no casualties were reported.
However, all passengers were safely evacuated and the railways are in the process of making special arrangements to get them to their destinations, informed the Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information & Publicity (ED/IP), Railway Board.
“Information has been received about the accident of 12578 Bagmati Express which runs from Mysuru to Darbhanga has met with an accident. Relief and rescue work was started rapidly. All passengers have been evacuated from the entire train. No casualty has been reported and no one is reported to be seriously injured. Special arrangements are being made by the railways to take all the passengers to their destination. During the entire journey, the security and food arrangements of the passengers will be made by the railways,” he told news agency ANI.
At least 12 coaches were also derailed in the accident. The medical relief van and rescue team have started to move from Chennai Central: Southern Railway updating, reported ANI. Moreover, due to the incident, multiple trains were diverted, informed the Southern Railway in an official notification.
The train was on the Mysuru-Darbhanga route via Perambur when it collided with a stationary goods train at the Kavarappettai railway station near Thiruvallur.
