Saloni Vora
, known for her role as the second female lead in the web series Bebaakee, has taken a giant leap in her career with her first silver-screen appearance. Vora stars in The Sabarmati Report, a gripping drama featuring Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra.
The story of her casting feels like a scene straight out of a movie itself. “It was surreal,” she recalls, describing the unexpected call from renowned casting director Mukesh Chhabra that changed everything. What started as a simple audition for the role of Rupa, a young Gujarati mother, would become her gateway to cinema. The character, though supporting, carried immense emotional weight – a 25-year-old mother fighting to protect her child and mother during the horrific Sabarmati train incident.
The filming process was nothing short of intense, pushing Vora to her absolute limits. “Despite battling a skin infection during the shoot and enduring rashes caused by the heat, I was determined to give my best. One of the most unforgettable moments was shooting a scene with actual fire on the train doors—a moment that pushed me both physically and emotionally. To shoot with actual fire was nerve wrecking, however, I am so glad I did it. This role tested my limits and will always hold a special place in my journey as an actor.”
However Vora is bummed that she couldn’t share screen space with Massey, who led the movie. “Vikrant is such a phenomenal actor. Of course, I was looking forward to share the screen with him, but we didn’t have any scenes together. I was quite bummed, however, I am looking at the brighter side that I got a movie credit that also has his name,” she signs off.
