Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk made a not-so-subtle jab at Donald Trump on Thursday over the president-elect’s history of awkward handshakes with France’s Emmanuel Macron.
The French president traveled to Warsaw to meet with Tusk and discuss his recent talks with Trump and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy held last week ahead of the Notre Dame Cathedral reopening ceremony.
Trump — who has a hand in some long, notable white-knuckled exchanges with Macron — added to his reputation of awkwardly gripping onto Macron’s hand during their recent meeting in Paris, exchanges that Tusk couldn’t ignore after his own talks with the French president.
“Handshakes with Donalds are usually quite a challenge …,” wrote Tusk alongside a clip of him playfully gripping Macron’s hand for several seconds at the Warsaw meeting.
Members of the press snapped photographs of the two during the handshake on Thursday before Tusk leaned in to whisper something to Macron and tapped the back of his hand.
It’s unclear what Tusk told the French president, who appeared amused by the remarks as they wrapped up the dap.
