Mumbai Indians, the winners of the inaugural edition of Women’s Premier League, retained most of their star players like captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Matthews and Nat-Sciver Brunt ahead of the 2025 auction.
England pacer Issy Wong was one of the high-profile names that MI released ahead of the auction.
During the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Player 2025 Auction on December 15, Sunday in Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians had an opportunity to strengthen their side even more, ahead of the forthcoming WPL edition.
The Mumbai-based franchise had a purse of 2.65 crore, and they used it efficiently during the WPL 2025 Auction.
Mumbai Indians spent a whopping Rs 1.6 crore to get Tamil Nadu’s 16-year wicketkeeper and batting prodigy G Kamalini. She can be a like-for-like replacement for Yastika Bhatia, in case her injury prolongs into the WPL season.
MI also added South Africa’s pace-bowling allrounder Nadine De Klerk to their ranks in the auction. Akshita Maheshwari and Sanskriti Gupta were the other players acquired by Mumbai Indians during the auction.
