The Orissa High Court lifted restrictions, clearing the way for the appointment of 2,753 multipurpose health workers (MPHW female) in Odisha. An orientation programme for these new appointees is scheduled for February 7, a notification issued by the Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) department in this regard on Wednesday mentioned.

The programme is scheduled to be held at Capital High School, which is located near Ram Mandir in Bhubaneswar. Interested candidates have been instructed to arrive by 7.00 AM positively for the event.
“Orientation Programme of the newly recruited 2,753 nos. of Multipurpose Health Worker (Female) L-II, 110 nos. of Ayurvedic Medical Officers, 10 nos. of Lectures (Homeopathy) and 5 nos. of Junior Assistants in the O/o Director, Ayush of Health & F.W. Department is scheduled to be held on 07.02.2025 at Capital High School, Unit- III, Near Ram Mandir, Bhubaneswar for which necessary arrangement is hereby made for smooth conduct of the programme as at Annexure-I & Annexure-II,” the H&FW notification read.
“The officers/employees engaged for above purpose are required to report before Ms. Jasmine Patnaik, OAS (S) Joint Secretary to Govt. at Capital High School, Unit-III, Near Ram Mandir latest by 07.00 AM on 07.02.2025 positively,” the notification stated.
Recruitment row timeline
On Monday, the Orissa High Court ordered Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) to halt appointment of Multipurpose Health Worker (MPHW).
In September 2024, the OSSSC had declared the results of MPHW with an aim to fill up a total of 2,753 vacancies across the state.
Several candidates had moved the court challenging the OSSSC MPHW recruitment. Hearing their petitions, the High Court stayed the appointment of MPHW till further orders.

For the recruitment of 2,753 female health workers, OSSSC released an official recruitment notification on April 29, 2023.
For the recruitment of MPHW, a 100-mark written exam was conducted. There was negative marking for wrong answers. Later, it was alleged that 13 answers were wrong while there was no clarity over answers of eight questions. Following this, several candidates had moved the High Court.
