Director Raju Murugan has expressed his opinion that a society that sees women as goddesses rather than as fellow humans is highly dangerous.

The movie “Gentlewoman,” directed by Joshua Sathuraman and starring Lijomol Jose, Losliya, and Hari Krishnan, addresses the role of women in family structures. The film questions societal norms, and its trailer and music launch event were recently held in Chennai.

At the event, directors Raju Murugan and Lenin Bharathi congratulated the film crew. Speaking at the event, Raju Murugan shared that his association with Joshua began through lyricist Yugabharathi. Initially, the movie had a different title, but “Gentlewoman” was more fitting.

“In a world where people discuss ‘Gentlemen,’ it is essential to talk about ‘Gentlewomen’ too, which Joshua has done through this film. Censorship issues were raised, and as someone who has faced similar challenges, I provided guidance.”

“The tendency to sanctify everything is a major issue. Who has the right to make something sacred? Many individuals broke traditions long ago, yet we still remain in the past. It is crucial to break these barriers.”

“A society that views women as divine rather than as equal humans is the most dangerous. This film emphasizes seeing women as fellow individuals and communicating with them in their language. I appreciate the producer for bringing such a project to the screen and congratulate all the artists and actors involved.”
