Director Sundar C is set to direct the movie ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’. Actress Nayanthara will reprise her role as Mookuthi Amman, along with Meena, Regina, and Yogi Babu playing key roles.
The film’s pooja ceremony took place at Chennai’s Prasad Studios today, and the first shot was directed by Sundar C.
Producer Ishari K. Ganesh shared, “Five years ago, RJ Balaji proposed the idea of ‘Mookuthi Amman’. Our family deity is Mookuthi Amman, so I was immediately interested. With Nayanthara as Amman, the first part received a great response. No other Amman movies were made in the last five years. Hence, our team wanted to create a pan-India Amman movie, and we knew Sundar C was the right person. He has successfully delivered multiple franchise films like ‘Aranmanai’ and ‘Kalakalappu’.”
Ganesh continued, “When we discussed ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ with Sundar C, he asked for one month and came back with an incredible script. He also specified that the film should have a three-digit budget and be released pan-India. To prepare for her role, Nayanthara has been observing a fast for a month, and even her family has joined for the past week. She is deeply connected to the character.”
