The Union Home Ministry recently announced that actor and TVK leader Vijay will be granted Y category security. Now, reports confirm that this security measure will officially come into effect from March 14.
In India, the Central Government provides security to public figures based on intelligence reports, especially when there are potential threats. Since Vijay has entered politics and is set to tour multiple locations ahead of the elections, concerns over his safety have risen. Following threats on social media, the Union Home Ministry decided last month to assign him Y category security.
From March 14, Vijay will be guarded by 8 to 11 armed Central Reserve Security Force (CRPF) commandos. While he has already been under the protection of private security personnel, this new measure ensures enhanced safety. However, the Y category security will only be applicable when Vijay is in Tamil Nadu.
