Mumbai: Two college-goers from New Delhi have been arrested by the

Bangur Nagar Police

in connection with a loan app fraud where a woman was harassed for money and her photos were morphed. Police said Lavneet Kumar and Mudit Jain, both 19, were money mules which means that their bank accounts were used to receive money that the complainant was harassed into paying.
The case dates back to 2023.

A 27 yr old woman had taken a loan from an online app. She received Rs 22000 and soon started getting calls demanding repayment. When she received obscene morphed pictures of herself , she lodged a police complaint.
The mastermind who engaged the collegians and morphed the woman’s pictures is yet to be traced.
Kumar and Jain told the police that they had responded to an advertisement about share trading on Telegram app when they came into contact with the prime accused. The college-goers were promised a good sum if they shared their banking information with the prime accused. Police are verifying their claims.
