The outreach centre of the National School of Drama (NSD) will be set up in Odisha soon, informed Minister for Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Suryabanshi Suraj.
As per sources, the outreach centre of NSD will operate temporarily from the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre in Bhubaneswar in the initial phase. Later, it will be shifted to its own campus.
As per the Minister, the NSD outreach centre would offer valuable opportunities to students aspiring to build careers in theatre and acting. The centre will provide courses in acting, screenplay, direction and design.
The centre will start offering courses from the next academic year.
“The outreach centre of the National School of Drama will definitely encourage the drama tradition of Odisha. The centre will be operated temporarily from the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre in Bhubaneswar and later it will be shifted to its permanent campus,” said the Minister.
“Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has approved the outreach centre of NSD. It will go a long way in invigorating the drama tradition of the State. The centre in Bhubaneswar will serve as a catalyst for the growth of Odia theatre productions,” he added.
