Editor Kate spends five days in Noosa on a babymoon with her growing family, enjoying pristine nature, incredible food and moments to reconnect with each other — and herself — before becoming a family of four.

As the Kabi Kabi people say, “Wunya Ngulum” or “welcome everyone”. This warm greeting encapsulates the exact feeling my young family and I experienced upon arriving in Noosa. Set on the land of the Kabi Kabi people, Noosa is steeped in breathtaking nature, rich culture and history. For us, five days in Noosa offered the perfect blend of relaxation and a touch of adventure — an ideal escape for sleepy parents with a very busy toddler in tow and a baby on the way!

A ferry to the North Shore

To reach our accommodation at Beach Road Holiday Homes, we had to catch a car ferry. My son, who was beside himself with excitement, pretended to be the captain of the ship as we sailed to a “hidden world”. He wasn’t far off! Located on the tranquil Noosa North Shore, the eco-friendly holiday homes are enveloped by lush native bushland and pristine waterways.

Our three-bedroom home was spacious, beautifully designed and expertly blended comfort with nature. In our fridge, we found a feast like no other, thanks to talented chef Danielle Young from The Noosa Forager. Three exquisite grazing boards, dinner options, breakfast platters and more awaited us — without us having to lift a finger. With local bakery treats, homemade dips and quiches, seasonal fruit, locally produced artisan foods and freshly squeezed orange juice, we didn’t have to think about breakfast, lunch or dinner for our entire stay.

We quickly settled into a blissful afternoon routine of grabbing a grazing board, lazing by the pool, soaking in the spa and watching the kangaroos also graze nearby. It was here where we reconnected, relaxed and enjoyed the spaciousness that came with a happy kid in a pool, a full tummy and healthy growing baby.

Ikatan Spa for ultimate relaxation

Ikatan Spa is a Balinese-inspired haven where tranquillity meets indulgence. Surrounded by lush green gardens, the spa instantly transported me into a slower, softer state of mind. My 60-minute pregnancy massage was pure bliss, easing all those little aches and allowing me to completely relax.

Next, I was treated to a 30-minute calming facial, followed by a foot treatment that seemed to melt every last bit of tension. My therapist, Sophie, was lovely — friendly and well-versed in treatments for mums-to-be, making me feel pampered and connected to my growing baby. Meanwhile, my husband entertained our little one at the impressive children’s playground at nearby Dick Caplick Park in Eumundi, where they had hours of fun.

Lunchtime at Lanai

On Saturday, we made our way to Lanai Noosa, a delightful new restaurant that quickly brightened our day, despite the rainy weather. With its coastal-chic vibe, Lanai’s atmosphere was friendly, laid-back and perfect for families. Chef Ryan Fitzpatrick’s menu didn’t disappoint, focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including native herbs and sustainably harvested seafood.

We opted for the Island set menu so we could try everything. Our favourite dishes were the Spencer Gulf kingfish, Mooloolaba prawn sanga, fresh green pea salad and the charcoal-grilled chicken. Each bite was packed with flavours that captured Noosa’s essence — fresh, lively and a little wild … much like our toddler after his serving of ice cream!

As the rain eased, we took the ferry to Hastings Street and wandered around Noosa’s boutique shops and artsy nooks. The streets are filled with unique stores selling everything from handmade jewellery to beautiful pieces of indigenous art. I especially loved how this area supports local artisans, bringing Noosa’s creative heart to life.

A toast to Noosa

Though I couldn’t partake in the spirits at Seabourne Distillery, this vibrant spot was too good to pass up — especially when joined by good friends. There, I met Dylan, Seabourne Distillery’s head distiller, who gave us a warm welcome and showed me around the distillery. Seabourne’s ambiance is relaxed and full of character, with a distinctly Noosa vibe.

My husband enjoyed sampling Seabourne’s unique, botanical-infused spirits, crafted with ingredients that capture the land and sea of Noosa. Dylan also whipped up a refreshing mocktail for me, blending local fruits and botanicals. Even our little one was spoiled with a twist on the classic ham and cheese toastie … and I ate the pickles from every plate (a pregnancy craving I couldn’t resist!)

Deep connection

After five peaceful days in Noosa, it was time to head home — and we did so with a renewed sense of calm and connection. For me, this trip wasn’t just a babymoon or a holiday. It was a rare moment to slow down and recharge. The landscape, from its sandy shores to its winding rivers, had a way of grounding me, reminding me of life’s simpler pleasures. It offered a nudge that life is to be lived slowly, consciously and with ease — and it is these reminders I will take into the last trimester of my pregnancy and beyond.

Reflecting on our time there, I realised that Noosa is a place where wellness isn’t something you strive for — it simply surrounds you, inviting you to breathe it all in.
