‘Jigarthanda Double X’, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, released as a grand Diwali treat for fans and received a good response from many celebrities from the film industry. Earlier several filmmakers including Shankar, Mari Selvaraj and Vignesh Shivan and actors Silambarasan TR and Dhanush have praised the film sky high.
The latest to be floored by the prequel to the 2014 super hit film is none other Superstar Rajinikanth. The legendary actor who himself is fresh from acting in ‘Jailer’ the all time biggest blockbuster in Tamil cinema history has penned a long appreciation note in Tamil.
“Jigarthanda Double X” is a Kurunji flower (Strobilanthes kunthiana that blooms once very twelve years in the Western Ghats). Amazing work by Karthik Subpuraj, different story and plot. New scenes that cinema fans have never seen before. It makes us wonder if Lawrence can act like this. SJ Surya is the go to actor of today. He aptly mixes villainy, comedy and character and he is amazing. My special compliments to the producer for making this film so grand. The tribes in the film are not acting, they are living. Elephants have also acted in competition with the actors. Vidhu who has acted as Chetani deserves to be praised more than anyone else. Wonderful.”

Rajini’s next movie ‘Lal Salaam’ directed by daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth is releasing worldwide on Pongal 2024. He is currently acting in ‘Thalaivar 170’ directed by T. J. Gananavel and will begin shooting for ‘Thalaivar 171’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj from April next year.
