NEW DELHI:
King Charles
of Britain is set to make his first public appearance at a traditional royal event since his cancer diagnosis in February.
The announcement from
Buckingham Palace
revealed that Charles, accompanied by
Queen Camilla
, will attend the Easter Sunday service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor on March 31. This occasion typically sees a gathering of senior royals, but this year’s service will be smaller in scale due to the king’s health.
The news follows
Princess Kate
‘s recent disclosure of her own cancer diagnosis and ongoing preventative chemotherapy, leading to her absence at the Easter service.
Prince William and Kate will also be missing from the event.
Charles, since his diagnosis, has reduced his public appearances as he undergoes treatment. Despite missing the Commonwealth Day celebrations earlier this month, he seems to be gradually increasing his engagements.
Earlier this week, Charles met with faith leaders at Buckingham Palace as part of a program promoting harmony and sharing leadership experiences amid global tensions. His nephew, Peter Phillips, shared that Charles has found the pace of his recovery frustrating. The confirmation of his attendance at the Easter service provides a glimpse into his progress and determination.
