Grandeur director Shankar and versatile actor Chiyaan Vikram have collaborated twice for ‘Anniyan’ and ‘I’ both of which were blockbuster hits. Especially ‘Anniyan’ in which Vikram played a man with Multiple Personality Disorder is considered his career best.

‘Anniyan’ released in the year 2005 was made on a budget of Rs 20 crore and grossed up to Rs 57 crores besides winning the National Award for Best Special Effects. It is now reported that Aascar Ravichandran the producer of the film is planning to re-release it in 4K version and has started the process.

Recently Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vettaiyadu Vilayadu’ was released in 4K version and received good response from the theater audience. Will ‘Anniyan’ also find the same success 18 years of its original release? Let’s wait and see.

Shankar is currently directing Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ and Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’ simultaneously. Vikram has completed the shooting of ‘Thangalaan’ directed by Pa. Ranjith and will be acting in ‘Chiyaan 62’ produced by Lokesh Kanagaraj and another project directed by Jude Anthany Joseph of ‘2018’ fame.
