Sachin Tendulkar wishes Virender Sehwag a ‘boring’ 45th birthday with a funny anecdote to make the day special. Sachin Tendulkar celebrated former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag’s 45th birthday with a special message as Tendulkar went down memory lane through their opening partnership. He further added, “When I tell him to slow the game down and hold his end of the crease up, he goes alright, and the very next ball he literally smashes for a boundary. Happy birthday to the man who loves doing the opposite of what I suggest.”

Sehwag made 8,586 runs in 104 Test matches while opening the innings for his team at an average of 49.34 runs. In 251 ODIs, he scored 8,273 runs. Sehwag has played 19 T20Is for India, scoring 394 runs.

From thereon, Sehwag carved out an amazing career based on his dogged determination to find the boundaries and, with them, the art of smashing them with minimum footwork but maximum intent. He set a one-of-a-kind record wherein he scored Test runs at a better rate than anyone ever has in cricket history. Bowlers were confident when facing a batsman who played so many shots, but Sehwag’s self-assurance was even greater.

In his prime, the ‘Nawab of Najfgarh’ conjugated incredible authority with his things called belligerent cuts and explosive drives. His eagerness and assertive keenness to gather runs in quick time had given him an amazing career. Taking all appearances into account, Sehwag had compiled over 16,000 runs for India in all three formats of the game, making a name for himself in the history of Indian cricket.

When I once told him to go slow and stay on the crease, he said, “ok†and then smashed the very next ball for four. Happy birthday to the man who likes to do exactly the opposite of what I say.
So, I am going to say, please have a boring birthday, Viru. 🙃 pic.twitter.com/i45fSXvvtV
