A man allegedly stabbed his two-year-old son and an elderly woman to death at Gujumapadar village under Maidalpur Police limits in Nabarangpur district on Friday. Irate over the incident, villagers allegedly thrashed the accused following which he also succumbed in the hospital. 

According to sources, Radha Santa had a verbal duel with his wife Malati on Friday. Radha was in an inebriated state and attacked Malati with a club. To save her life, she ran away from her house. But Radha turned more violent and vented his anger on his two-year-old son. He allegedly stabbed his son multiple times, killing him on the spot.

Seeing this, an elderly woman, who was his neighbour, tried to save the child and ended up being attacked by Radha. She too collapsed on the ground and died. 

By then the villagers had gathered at the spot and they somehow overpowered the accused. The accused was also beaten up by the villagers. On the basis of a complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s son, a team from Maidalpur Police Station reached the spot. The villagers handed Radha over to the police. 

The police seized the bodies for post-mortem and sent Radha to a nearby government hospital for treatment. 

Later, while undergoing treatment, Radha reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
