In preparation for India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations, heightened security measures have been implemented in the national capital. This includes various restrictions affecting flight operations, road traffic, and Delhi Metro services on January 26, with details provided below.

Flight Restrictions

No flights will be permitted to take off or land at the airport between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm on January 26. Major domestic airlines like Air India and IndiGo have canceled over 700 scheduled flights between January 19 and January 26 due to these restrictions.

Road traffic restrictions

  • Central Delhi will experience disruptions in vehicular traffic on the day of the Republic Day parade.
  • The parade route begins at Vijay Chowk, passing through Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg, concluding at the Red Fort.
  • C-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed until the parade crosses Tilak Marg.
  • Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the parade route from 9:30 am to 1 pm.

Delhi metro rules

Delhi Metro services will commence at 4 AM on all lines to facilitate public transportation to Kartavya Path for the Republic Day celebrations. Trains will run at a 30-minute headway until 6 AM, after which the regular timetable will resume for the remainder of the day.

Heavy transport/light goods vehicles

No entry allowed into Delhi from other states from 11 PM on Thursday until the conclusion of the parade. They will be permitted to ply only between ISBT-Sarai Kale Khan and ISBT-Kashmere Gate on the Ring Road from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Friday.
