Deadpool is retiring with Rob Liefeld after over thirty years together working with the character he co-created from Marvel.
Liefeld posted on X, announcing that after 33 years of giving life to Deadpool and sharing his adventures, it’s time for the Deadpool Daddy to say goodbye. He went on to humorously say, “One of the fringe benefits of aging is that you can drop the mic on some of this. Here I am.”
Liefeld confirmed that he has one last crazy Deadpool tale cooked up for Marvel, so fans should keep their hopes up for an epic conclusion. “I’ve cooked up one last crazy Deadpool tale for Marvel. Trust me, it’s a wild one! It’ll be a collaboration for the ages,” he enthused.
Regarding his decision to step away from Deadpool, Liefeld cited age and the desire to end on a high note. “I’m 57 in March, and I still have good eyes and can work hard now, but I want to do my best before my hand-eye coordination starts to degrade,” he explained. He says he plans to discuss it further on his podcast, Robservations.
Liefeld was grateful and pointed out the fans and their never-ending support, which defined his career. “I look forward to embarking on this journey with you, the world’s greatest fans, who have always been the best support,” he concluded, emphasizing the importance of their backing.
