BABYMONSTER / TREASURE | YG ANNOUNCEMENT (2024 Release Plan)
So, who are BABYMONSTER and TREASURE? Let’s break it down.
BABYMONSTER, a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, officially debuted on April 1, 2024, with their EP “BabyMons7er.” The group, consisting of seven members—Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita—was introduced with a buzzworthy campaign starting in December 2022. Their YouTube introduction video amassed 15 million views in just three days, significantly boosting YG Entertainment’s stock prices.
The group released live performance videos gradually starting from January 12, showcasing each member’s talents. Their pre-debut single “Dream,” released on YouTube on May 14, 2023, quickly topped the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart. BABYMONSTER’s YouTube channel also reached significant milestones, gaining one million subscribers in 52 days and two million in 129 days, setting records for K-pop girl groups.
Before their official debut, the group released two singles as a six-piece: “Batter Up” and “Stuck in the Middle,” with the latter marking their debut single. The music video for “Batter Up” became the most viewed debut music video in K-pop history within 24 hours, hitting 100 million views in just 18 days. It also achieved 10 million streams on Spotify in ten days, a record for a rookie K-pop girl group. Member Ahyeon, who had taken a hiatus due to health issues, has since rejoined the group, completing their seven-member lineup.
As for TREASURE, this dynamic boy band burst onto the scene in 2019 under the wings of YG Entertainment. Comprising ten incredibly talented members, including Choi Hyun-suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, and more, TREASURE quickly captured hearts worldwide with their infectious energy and killer performances.
Since their debut, TREASURE has been on a meteoric rise, with their single album “The First Step: Chapter One” selling over a million copies in just five months. From captivating music videos to chart-topping hits, TREASURE continues to solidify their status as K-pop royalty.
With their upcoming releases, both BABYMONSTER and TREASURE are set to make a significant impact in the K-pop scene this year.
