Taylor Swift stands by Lady Gaga following the weekend spread of untrue pregnancy rumors. After being seen in a small Maine town for her sister’s wedding, Gaga sparked conjecture about a potential pregnancy.
The singer of “Bad Romance” addressed the rumors on TikTok on Monday. “I don’t have to find an aesthetic; I am the aesthetic,” she says in a 10-second video she released. In the video, Gaga referred to Swift’s song “Down Bad” from The Tortured Poets Department, saying, “not pregnant – just down bad cryin at the gym.”
Taylor Swift commented on the matter as well via the @commentsbycelebs Instagram account. Can we all agree, she said, that making comments about a woman’s body is intrusive and reckless? None of the women or Gaga owes anyone an explanation.”
Using the extra publicity, Gaga urged people to visit headcount.org to register to vote or to verify the status of their registration. Fans were thrilled by her usage of Swift’s lyrics, though, and conjectured about a possible collaboration between the two singers.
Swift may be subtly reacting to similar speculations about her own pregnancy with her support of Gaga. Swift had dispelled these claims, according to a TikTok user, when she performed in Madrid and sang “But Daddy I Love Him.” Swift broke character mid-performance to respond to the rumors head-on with, “No, I’m not.”
Gaga is now working on her seventh studio album and will appear in the October release of Joker: Folie à Deux. Swift, meantime, is now on the second leg of her Eras Tour abroad.
