Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated film, ‘Indian 2,’ directed by Shankar, has finally arrived in cinemas worldwide. This sequel to their 1996 blockbuster features music by Anirudh Ravichander, taking over from Oscar Nayagan AR Rahman, who scored the original film.

Shankar announced yesterday that the background scores composed by Rahman for Part 1 are retained and used in ‘Indian 2.’ The nostalgic music from the original film has resonated well with audiences in theatres. However, there have been online criticisms directed at Anirudh for not matching the greatness of the ‘Indian 1’ album in the sequel.

On Thursday, Filmfare announced that AR Rahman’s music for Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 won the Best Music Album award in Tamil. Rahman shared his excitement about the award on social media, showcasing the album of Ponniyin Selvan 1. However, some netizens have started rumours suggesting that Rahman’s post was a subtle dig at Anirudh for his work on ‘Indian 2,’ sparking off a fan war.
