Navratri 2024 Date: Navratri festival holds a great religious and spiritual significance. Navratri means nine days and nine nights of worshipping Maa Durga. This festival has its own importance in Hindu Scriptures and celebrated with great grandeur and enthusiasm across the country. This time, Shardiya Navratri will begin from Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwina i.e., October 3, 2024 and it will culminate on Dussehra, which is going to be celebrated on Dashami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in Ashwina Month i.e., October 12, 2024.
All the devotees are very excited about Navratri festival and they are looking forward to worship Maa Durga for nine long days in the best possible way they can.

Navratri 2024: Significance
Navratri is one of the most revered festivals of Hindus, which is celebrated across the country with immense devotion and fervor. Navratri itself is derived from two Sanskrit words that is ‘Nav’ which means nine and ‘Ratri’ means nights. Each day of Navratri represents different form of the Goddess Durga. Devotees celebrate the victory of Goddess Durga over demon Mahishasur. On the day of Vijayadashami or Dussehra, Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasur and established righteousness in the universe.

This festival is the reminder to the devotees that in the end, morality and truth always win and represents triumph of righteousness over evil. Navratri also represents the power of feminine energy or Shakti. This festival honors the Goddess’ fiery, protective, and caring qualities as well as the strength of women.
Navratri 2024: Puja Rituals
1. Ghatsthapana: Ghatsthapana is one of the main ritual which is performed on the very first day of Navartri during Shubh Muhurat.
How to do Ghatsthapana?

  • Take a Kalash which is filled with Ganga Jal and take few mango leaves and place them above the Kalash. Take a coconut, wrapped in red colour cloth and Kalava and place it at the top of the Kalash.

  • Take an earthen pot and fill it with soil. Sow some barley (Jawar) and let them grow during these nine days. One must keep watering it.

2. Altar
Devotees take a wooden plank or wherever you want to place the idol of Goddess Durga, first clean that place and spread a red colour cloth on that then place an idol of Goddess Durga.
3. Durga Idol Sthapana
After placing an idol o Goddess Durga, devotees should light a diya with desi cow ghee and offer garland and flowers to Maa Durga. Adorn the idol with shringar items.
4. Invoke the idol
To invoke the idol, one must chant various Vedic mantras dedicated to the Goddess.
5. Chanting Mantra
Mantra chanting is very important during this nine days of period to please the Goddess and it can uplift you spiritually. You can feel connected to the divine feminine energy.
6. Fasting
Fasting is not mandatory to all but if you are keeping the fast then you must keep this in your mind that fasting is not for show off but its a great way to connect with the divine energy and it can also cleanse your body, mind and soul.
