Alia Bhatt’s controversial interview re-surfaces as Jigra tanks at box-office Watch

Alia Bhatt’s latest release Jigra has been her biggest flop in the last 10 years. Ever since her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi became a hit she was being promoted as Lady Bachchan and an actress with great talent. Undoubtedly Alia’s work in the movie was very good and she also won a National Award for the movie but one of the main reasons behind its commercial success was the brand name of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

SLB has his following and thousands of fans love his kind of love stories and dramas that are depicted aesthetically. Movies that followed like RRR and Brahmastra were led by bigger names and actors and hence  Alia Bhatt cannot be credited completely with their massive success. Now that Jigra with Alia as the solo lead has failed badly, an old interview of the Highway actress that shows are defending her success and herself against all the accusations of getting opportunities due to nepotism have resurfaced on the web.

The video faced a lot of wrath from the fans a couple of years ago when it was released because in this interview Alia Bhatt can be heard saying that no one is forcing the audience to watch her movies and that they should not watch her film if they do not want to. Alia Bhatt in this interview said, “Contrary to what people say you can’t pay for a film to do well, you can’t pay for yourself to do well, you can’t pay for anything to do well. To do well you have to work hard and be good.”

“And the audience is the biggest barometer of success. If the audience believes that you are worth that success they will give that to you. I’m not taking it from them. So I have worked hard to get where I have got to,” she added. Alia even said that after all the criticism for nepotism, she decided to work and answer through her work. The actress added that she was the one who had the last laugh after delivering a big hit like Gangubai Kathiawadi and can continue laughing until she delivers a flop.

Alia should own her flops the way she owns her success.

But now that Alia Bhatt has delivered a flop, fans believe that they are having the last laugh. Incidentally, since the figures of Jigra are so disappointing rumours are adrift that Alia and the team have also indulged in corporate booking just like what Shah Rukh Khan was accused of doing for Pathaan and Jawan.
