The Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar is set to enter the second phase of trial operations on November 15, a critical step toward its anticipated April 2025 commercial launch. As per reports, this trial phase, which will continue through December 15, involves daily flights by Akasa, Indigo, and potentially Air India. The trial aims to test the airport’s operational readiness, with data from these flights scheduled for submission to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by December 20. Following this, the airport will apply for aerodrome licensing, with authorities hopeful for DGCA approval by March 20, 2025.

Once licensed, NIA plans to begin full-scale commercial operations on April 17, 2025, with an initial 30 flights on its opening day, comprising 25 domestic, three international, and two cargo flights. The first international routes will connect Jewar to Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai, strengthening global connectivity for the region. Domestic destinations will include key cities like Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Dehradun, with the complete list of destinations currently being finalized.
If reports are to go by, the DGCA has already approved the airport’s flight calibrations after a thorough review of runway conditions and wind speed, marking a successful completion of the first phase of operational testing.

In its drive to establish itself as a global aviation hub, NIA has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa, with plans to secure additional airline partnerships to broaden the airport’s reach. These strategic collaborations are expected to enhance connectivity and foster economic growth in western Uttar Pradesh, while also easing congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
