The much-anticipated re-release of Kamal Haasan’s iconic film ‘Guna’ is back on track! A court has officially lifted the interim ban that had previously halted the re-release of the 1991 cult classic. Directed by Santhana Bharathi and featuring an iconic performances by Ulaganayagan, ‘Guna’ remains one of Kamal Haasan’s most celebrated performances.

The re-release plans hit a roadblock when Ghanshyam Hemdev filed a lawsuit claiming rights over the film, leading to the court placing an interim ban. However, during the recent court proceedings, production houses Pyramid and Evergreen successfully argued that the copyright had expired in 2013, and therefore, the claim to restrain the re-release was invalid. The court ruled in their favor, removing the ban.

With the legal hurdles cleared, fans of ‘Guna’ are eagerly awaiting the official re-release date. The film’s enduring legacy, coupled with a renewed interest sparked by the usage of Ilaiyaraaja’s masterpiece song ‘Kanmani Anbodu’, has created massive excitement. Expect more announcements soon, as ‘Guna’ is poised to make a triumphant return to theaters!
